Counselor's Corner

Red Ribbon Week is designed to be an awareness campaign that gets information to the
general public about the dangers of drug use. It is designed to get people talking to others and working on
activities that will help rebuild a sense of community and common
purpose.

Some campuses invited guest speakers and had fun, engaging activities scheduled for the week.

Following the unfortunate event regarding DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, concerned
parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red
Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the
destruction caused by drugs in America. In 1988, NFP sponsored the first National Red Ribbon Celebration.
