Jubilee Brownsville Celebrates JET Grant Award Worth Over $600K

Jubilee Academies received the JET grant award for the 2022 - 2023 school year at Jubilee Brownsville. This award was vital in providing state-of-the-art equipment for Jubilee Brownsville nursing students through our very own nursing laboratory.

The Texas Workforce Commission invited qualifying educational institutions to apply for funding to support training programs, becoming known as the JET grant program or Jobs and Education for Texans grant program. Approximately $7.5 million was allocated to provide eligible institutions with funding for "equipment to eligible educational institutions for the purpose of developing career and technical education courses leading to a license, certificate or post-secondary degree and may include courses offering dual-credit and technical education programs."

Thanks to the additional awarded funding of $685,303, our students have had the opportunity to use industry-based equipment to elevate their skill sets and participate in internships, Career and Technical Education (CTE) competitions, and complete industry certifications.

The awarded funding was made possible with the leadership and former CTE Director, Mr. Bernardo Garrido, and his team. Mr. Garrido was a pioneer in CTE programming at Jubilee Academies.

We are grateful to Texas Workforce Commission and Texas Southmost College (TSC) for their support in the success of our students.

Presenting the JET Grant award was Aaron Demerson, Commissioner Representing Employers; Pat Hobbs, Executive Director of Workforce Solutions Cameron; Mrs. Adela Garza, TSC Board of Trustees; and Jesus Roberto Rodríguez, Ph. D. CEO/TSC President.

Congratulations, Jubilee Brownsville!
