Senior Spotlight

Kayla Luevanos - Jubilee-Brownsville

Kayla is an AP Scholar who currently holds a GPA of 4.70. 

  • In September, the College Board awarded her the National Hispanic Recognition Award.  She is the President of Student Council and the President of National Honor Society.  She has been an excellent leader and role model to her peers.

  • During the month of October, Kayla led the NHS on a donation event in which over $2,000 was fundraised; 100% of the proceeds were sent to the research for Kleefstra Syndrome.

Kayla is a dual enrollment student who is expecting her associates degree in May 2023.  She is planning to pursue a degree in Computer Science.  She has been accepted into the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.  As of now, she has been awarded $38,000 in scholarships and endowments.

Gearup! News

GEAR UP at Jubilee-San Antonio, Jubilee-Highland Hills, and Jubilee-Highland Park partnered with the counseling team to host an 8th grade transition night at JSA to provide information about high school requirements, CTE pathways, and the GEAR UP 8th grade passport. 

We also just ended session 2 of our Difference Makers Mentoring Program across all our GEAR UP Campuses! Mentors and Mentees participated in a Lunch Bunch celebration to close the session and they received a certificate for their participation in the mentoring program.

4th-6th: Girls Basketball- 22-23 finished 3rd in their division.

4th-6th: Boys Basketball- 22-23 finished 3rd in their division. 

7th-8th: Girls Basketball 22-23. Co-Division Champions and have advanced to Playoffs.

A Look Inside the Classroom

The Literacy Committee at Jubilee - Harlingen hosted a new, stuffed animal toy drive for the pediatric wing at Valley Baptist Medical Center. We had a great turnout! Our officers for the JubiLeaders presented the hospital with our donations. 

100 Days of School!

We have officially completed 100 days of learning. Here are some of the ways our campuses celebrated.

Jubilee - Highland Hills hosted the ZuZu African Acrobats, the greatest ambassadors of African cultural entertainment in the United States. They showcased a unique cultural educational extravaganza for the students and staff. All we can say is, WOW!


Child Nutrition

The Child Nutrition Department will celebrate Valentine’s Day by sharing heart healthy nutrition education to students and staff. Be on the lookout for fun activity sheets and lucky tray drawings in your school cafeteria the week of February 13th!
