Miranda’s Medal: Flourishing with Jubilee
Meet Miranda, a determined and passionate graphic design student at Jubilee Academies. Miranda's journey is a testament to the transformative power of passion and perseverance. Introduced to Adobe Illustrator her freshman year, she discovered a love for graphic design that led her to create the winning 2024 Fiesta medal design competition for Jubilee Academies. Miranda shares her inspiration for the design, “The flowers around the border of the medal represent each student that has the opportunity to flourish at Jubilee.” Miranda is enrolled in the Arts, A/V Technology and Communications (AAVTC) Career Cluster® of our Career and Technical Education Programs; she will graduate with certification in Adobe Suite.
Central to Miranda's success is the guidance of her teacher, Oscar Joens, whose mentorship and encouragement propelled her toward greatness. Miranda expressed her gratitude for the nomination and acknowledged Mr. Joens' role in her achievements, saying, "It feels pretty amazing -- I’d say -- knowing that I was nominated. I would like to thank Mr. Joens for taking the time to instruct and making sure we understand. Without him, I wouldn't know the basics." Oscar, a graphic design instructor at Jubilee's Career and Technical Education Programs, fosters collaboration and empowers his students to exceed their expectations. Miranda's success has also paved the way for her sister. In Miranda's words, "I feel very proud because not only am I only a junior here but I am making a name for myself and my family. It is an accomplishment for my family and my sister who also attends Jubilee San Antonio.”
Despite the challenges of mastering Adobe Suite, Miranda's dedication and attention to detail elevated her design to victory. Her triumph not only celebrates her accomplishments but also highlights the supportive community and educational environment of Jubilee Academies.
Miranda’s creative design is now a cherished component of the Jubilee legacy. We are proud to announce that all proceeds from 2024 Fiesta medal will be dedicated to supporting the campus initiatives of the four Jubilee Academies schools in San Antonio.
